Change of plans!

Well, I had thought I would design the website for my Computer Applications class on the history of Georgiana. However, the final project is due in two weeks, and I wouldn’t have enough time to get everything together to make a good website. Therefore, I think I will design one for the Little Sorrel Chapter UDC. We have to incorporate some sort of video or audio on the site, as well as design a logo. I’ve got to figure out how to do that. We also have to have graphics on every page. This semester’s assignment is different from last semester. We don’t actually have I write HTML code; we just have to find a free host site and use their design tools. I kind of have mixed feelings about this. It’s easier not to have to figure out HTML, but I can’t seem to find the perfect design theme on my host. I want the site to look good and professional, but I couldn’t really find a theme that fit what I wanted to do. I almost would rather write my own HTML and CSS, but I don’t have the time for that. Oh well, this should be interesting!

Website design

So I have to design another website this semester for my Computer Applications class. I considered several different possible topics. I thought about doing one for Mom’s business, and I considered doing one for the Southern Legends band since they expressed an interest in that one time. I also considered Thomas Hill Watts. I thought that would be a good idea, since there isn’t really much information on the Web about him. But I’ve finally settled on designing a website about Georgiana. I’d like to focus on the historical aspects of it, like L & N Railroad, W.T. Smith Lumber Company, and things like that. I think there will be plenty of information available to me. I posted in the Butler County history page on Facebook asking for information. I think this is going to be great!

Well, this is my new blog about library school. In case you didn’t know, I’m a grad student at the University of Southern Mississippi in the Master’s of Library and Information Science program. This is my fourth semester, so (hopefully) I’ll graduate in the spring of 2014. This semester I’m taking LIS 668: Research Methods in Libraries and LIS 557: Internet Applications in Libraries.

I have realized and come to accept the fact that I am a nerd. I love technology-ish stuff–computers, gadgets, etc.– and I love exploring new websites and the Internet tools that are out there. I love to read, paint, scrapbook, watch TV (not much time for that, though!), waste time on Facebook, Twitter, and especially Pinterest. I also enjoy photography.

Well, that’s about it. TTFN!
